Asbagu Aliyu Muhammad, Zamfara Deputy Commissioner of Police, dies

Asbagu Aliyu Muhammad, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in charge of Operations for the Zamfara State Police Command, has died. He passed away at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at the Ahmed Sani Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital in Gusau following a brief illness.

The Zamfara State Police Command issued a statement describing Muhammad as a senior officer who served the Nigeria Police Force with professionalism and dedication. Commissioner of Police Ahmad Muhammad Bello expressed condolences to the family and colleagues, describing the death as a major loss to the force.

Burial rites for the deceased were scheduled to take place in accordance with Islamic traditions at Sheikh Ibn Umar Kanoma.
