Asbestos persists in Funchal municipal buildings

Asbestos remains present in certain municipal structures in Funchal, despite a removal program that was launched in 2016 and officially declared completed in 2020.

The Funchal City Council has stated that the hazardous material is no longer found in residential neighborhoods, but it persists in the roofing of two municipal buildings.
