Ascend launches YouTube series to discuss logistics reform and the 2030 logistics problem

Ascend Co., Ltd. has launched ‘Ascend Shokudo Radio’, a YouTube program designed to facilitate candid discussions regarding the structural challenges facing the logistics industry. The series aims to share the practical experiences and insights of key industry figures as they navigate the ‘2030 logistics problem’, a period during which estimates suggest up to 25% of cargo may become undeliverable.

The program features interviews with leaders who are actively reshaping supply chain practices. The inaugural guest is Masami Fujita, former Senior Executive Officer at Kewpie Corporation, who discussed the necessity of viewing the current situation as a crisis of supply structure rather than just a logistics issue. Fujita emphasized the importance of leaders taking responsibility for difficult decisions, such as extending lead times to ensure long-term stability.

Hosted by Ascend President Mizuki Kusaka, the show will release episodes bi-weekly. Future guests are expected to include industry experts, such as former Ajinomoto Co., Inc. logistics planning director Hitoshi Horio, to discuss the evolving landscape of logistics management and the role of Chief Logistics Officers (CLO) in the face of new regulatory requirements.
