Aschaffenburg hosts diversity festival with 3,500 participants

On 30 July 2023, the city of Aschaffenburg staged a large public event promoting diversity, democracy and openness. More than 3,500 people took part in three “star marches” across Gesta, Linde and Volkfestplatz, followed by a Festival of Democracy on the Schlossplatz featuring cultural performances and a speech by Mayor Jürgen Herzing.

The gathering was organized by over 230 local organisations that signed the “Aschaffenburg is colourful” declaration. After the event, the organising team announced a temporary pause, with plans to reconvene in late October or November for future activities.

The festival underscored the city’s civil‑society commitment to inclusion and was described as a memorable day for participants.
