Ascoli Piceno family counseling services face critical shortages

The Donne Democratiche provincial group in Ascoli Piceno has raised concerns regarding the critical state of local family counseling services. During a press conference held at the health services building, spokesperson Valentina Bellini emphasized the group's commitment to prioritizing community needs and essential services for women.

Local councilors highlighted several operational difficulties facing the Ascoli family counseling center. Key issues include a shortage of staff, with only two midwives currently on duty, and the suspension of postpartum home visit services. Additionally, cervical cancer prevention services have been significantly impacted; women receiving positive screening results face delays of two to three months before they can access follow-up examinations, often forcing those with financial means to seek private care.
