Ascoli Piceno mayor calls for halt to Ascoli‑Mare highway works over safety concerns

Mayor Marco Fioravanti of Ascoli Piceno wrote to ANAS asking for a temporary suspension of the works on the Superstrada Ascoli‑Mare, citing a sharp rise in summer traffic and recent fatal accidents. He warned that the construction, lane reductions and detours are causing “inevitable slowdowns, queues and situations that can negatively affect safety”.

Local opposition councilors also demanded an urgent open council meeting to address the “serious safety problems” on the Superstrada Ascoli‑Mare, the Salaria and the A14, urging involvement of the municipality, region, province, ANAS and highway operators to find solutions that reduce disruptions and protect road users.
