Ascoli Province clarifies Belvedere hazardous waste landfill procedures

The Province has issued a clarification regarding the authorization procedures for the “Belvedere” hazardous waste landfill project located in the Alta Valle del Bretta, within the Municipality of Ascoli.

The Single Regional Authorization Procedure (PAU) is a complex process involving Environmental Impact Assessment (VIA), Integrated Environmental Authorization (AIA), and landscape authorization. The Province noted that the timeline is governed by state and regional regulations and is not subject to discretionary timing by provincial authorities.

Following the publication of the project on June 10, the procedure includes a phase for verifying documentation completeness, followed by a public observation period. The Province addressed concerns regarding the timing of public notices, stating that the procedures must adhere to regional guidelines and specific legal timelines.
