Asda Foundation invests £1m in UK community spaces

The Asda Foundation has invested over £1 million into 73 community projects across the United Kingdom through its Local Community Spaces Fund. The initiative provides grants ranging from £10,000 to £20,000 to grassroots organisations, including youth hubs, village halls, and community centres, to support renovations, accessibility improvements, and new initiatives.

This funding marks a milestone in the Foundation’s five-year commitment to invest £5 million into local community spaces and grassroots organisations. The distribution of funds included £899,144 for 55 organisations in England, £154,898 for 10 groups in Scotland, £71,209 for four organisations in Wales, and £70,600 for four organisations in Northern Ireland.

According to the Foundation’s Community Insight Tracker, these spaces play a vital role in social cohesion. Data from January 2026 indicated that 79 per cent of funded groups reported that community spaces help reduce isolation, while 77 per cent noted they help build social connections.
