Asda revamps store staff schedules to boost customer experience
Asda announced a company‑wide overhaul of store staff rotas, aiming to create a more flexible, multi‑skilled workforce. Employees will be deployed across four core areas – replenishment, store processes, customer service and online order picking – and rosters will be adjusted to match shifting demand patterns. Stores identified as over‑staffed will offer voluntary redundancy packages, affecting less than 1% of the retailer’s roughly 90,000 store‑based workers; no compulsory redundancies are planned.
The changes are part of Asda’s broader turnaround strategy, which includes the “Take a Fresh Look” customer campaign and a series of store and range improvements intended to rebuild shopper perception after a decline in market share.
