ASEAN Day was celebrated in Ankara at an event hosted by Ankara University. The program was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Berris Ekinci, Ankara University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Harun Tanrıvermiş, ambassadors from ASEAN member states, and various guests.

During the event, Deputy Foreign Minister Berris Ekinci highlighted the relationship between Turkey and ASEAN, noting that Turkey serves as the 12th dialogue partner for the association. Ekinci emphasized that despite geopolitical tensions and uncertainties reshaping international relations, ASEAN member states act as a pillar of peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region. She expressed Turkey's appreciation for ASEAN's inclusive approach and its role in shaping a more inclusive global system.

Chaturont Chaiyakam, the newly appointed Ambassador of Thailand to Ankara, noted that this year marks the 59th anniversary of ASEAN's founding in Bangkok in 1967. He described the current period as a historical turning point, stating that the future for both ASEAN and Turkey depends on their ability to work together to build inclusive, resilient, and sustainable communities amidst challenges such as economic disruption, climate change, and rapid technological transformation.
