ASEAN positioned as global asset class at London investment roadshow

The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) is promoting ASEAN as a significant integrated asset class to attract greater global investment. During the inaugural ASEAN Investment Roadshow held in London, SC Chairman Datuk Mohammad Faiz Azmi highlighted that the region's economic scale, demographic strength, and market diversity provide a foundation for resilience and growth.

Despite having an economy valued at US$4.26 trillion, a population of nearly 700 million, and goods trade reaching US$4.37 trillion, ASEAN's representation in global investment portfolios remains relatively modest compared to its growth potential. The roadshow, co-hosted with FTSE Russell, brought together approximately 100 stakeholders, including institutional investors, asset managers, and regulators.

The initiative aligns with the SC’s Capital Market Masterplan 2026–2030, aiming to position Malaysia as a primary gateway for regional fundraising and investment opportunities within the ASEAN bloc.
