ASEIC hosts Ecothon Demo Day in Manila to support eco-friendly startups

The ASEAN SME Eco-Innovation Center (ASEIC), in collaboration with the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry and the German Heinrich Böll Foundation, hosted the ‘Ecothon Demo Day’ in Manila on August 25–26.

The event drew approximately 170 participants, including startup representatives, local investors, and government officials. Fourteen startups presenting various environmental business models participated in the showcase. Eigens Co. secured first place for its technology that converts organic waste into liquid bio-stimulants for agricultural use.

The Ecothon program aims to discover and nurture eco-friendly startups across the ASEAN region, with participation this year from Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. ASEIC plans to provide follow-up support and customized programs to help participating teams secure investment and strengthen the green startup ecosystem in the region.
