ASELSAN begins field operations for GÜRZ air defense system

ASELSAN has successfully commenced field operations for its GÜRZ air defense system. During a live-fire test conducted on September 5, 2026, the system demonstrated its capabilities in detecting, tracking, and intercepting various short-range aerial threats.

The GÜRZ platform utilizes a multi-layered defense approach by integrating both artillery and missiles on a single vehicle. Its configuration includes a 35mm KORKUT gun capable of using particulate ammunition, alongside launchers for SUNGUR and GÖKSUR air defense missiles.

Technical testing confirmed the effectiveness of the system’s four-faced AESA radar, electro-optical sensors, and communication infrastructure. During the exercises, the GÖKSUR missile successfully performed complex maneuvers to follow its designated trajectory, validating the platform's precision and tracking continuity.
