Asen Monument video sparks scandal in Veliko Tarnovo

A music video filmed by the group ‘Trio Band’ at the Asen Monument in Veliko Tarnovo has sparked significant public outcry and official investigations. The video features a cover of the song ‘6 bez 10’ performed by an orchestra accompanied by dancers in white outfits, set against the backdrop of the monument dedicated to the Asen dynasty.

Local residents and officials have condemned the footage as a ‘mockery of the memory of kings’ and a display of disrespect toward Bulgarian cultural heritage. Veliko Tarnovo Mayor Daniel Panov described the act as morally reprehensible and called for sanctions and heavy fines against the group, noting that the filming appeared to have a commercial purpose.

Bulgarian Minister of Culture Evtim Miloshev also intervened, stating that national symbols should not be used as ‘decor for tastelessness.’ He has requested an immediate investigation from the Minister of Interior to determine if official permission was granted for the filming and to take appropriate action to protect historical sites.
