Asenovgrad completes €586,000 renovation of Asenovets sports hall

The Asenovets sports hall in Asenovgrad has undergone a major modernization following a renovation project valued at €586,000. Funded through the municipality's successful 2024 bid under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, the project included thermal insulation for exterior walls and floors, a new reinforced concrete floor, and a suspended ceiling.

Additional upgrades feature renovated sanitary facilities, a new climate control system, and improved accessibility for people with disabilities via a new ramp and northern entrance. To promote energy autonomy, a photovoltaic system was installed on the southern side of the building to provide electricity throughout the seasons.

Furthermore, €128,000 in separate funding from the Ministry of Youth and Sport was utilized to install specialized sports flooring and equipment. This includes a professional basketball surface meeting International Basketball Federation (FIBA) standards, along with portable basketball hoops and volleyball stands. The facility is now equipped to host both daily training sessions and international professional tournaments.
