Asep Surya Atmaja inaugurated as Bekasi Regent

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has officially inaugurated Asep Surya Atmaja as the definitive Regent of Bekasi. The inauguration took place at the Bale Gede Pakuan Building in Bandung on Friday, October 23, 2026.

Asep Surya Atmaja succeeds Ade Kuswara Kunang, who was removed from office, and will serve the remainder of the 2025–2030 term until February 20, 2030.

During the ceremony, Governor Mulyadi outlined several priority mandates for the new leadership. He emphasized the need to accelerate improvements in basic services, specifically healthcare and education, alongside infrastructure development and regional aesthetics.

Regarding healthcare, the Governor proposed a family doctor model where contract doctors are deployed to villages and residential areas to provide home visits, particularly for low-income residents. He also stressed that the Bekasi Regency must utilize its strong fiscal capacity and significant budget surpluses to ensure public welfare and provide free education through the university level for local residents.
