ASETUR assembly held in San Carlos to promote Mexican tourism

The Association of Tourism Secretaries of Mexico (ASETUR) held its 72nd Ordinary Assembly in San Carlos, Sonora, focusing on the development and innovation of tourism products. The event included participation from federal Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, Sonora Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño, and various state tourism officials.

A key highlight of the assembly was the sinking of the former vessel ARM Azueta (PO-122) in the Sea of Cortez off the coast of San Carlos. The vessel will serve as an artificial reef, part of the Sonoran Artificial Reef System, intended to expand ecotourism and underwater experience offerings in the region.

During the sessions, officials emphasized the need for inter-institutional collaboration and sustainable economic development. Plans were also discussed for the upcoming National Meeting of Magic Towns (Pueblos Mágicos) to be held in Tamaulipas, aimed at increasing the competitiveness of national destinations.
