ASF President Alexandru Petrescu discusses Romania's economic progress

At the GBSN Beyond 2026 international conference in Bucharest, Alexandru Petrescu, President of the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF), addressed the relationship between economic development, leadership, and societal progress.

Petrescu highlighted Romania's political, economic, and social transformations driven by European integration. While noting significant progress, he identified challenges such as regional disparities, unequal access to education and infrastructure, and uneven distribution of economic benefits.

He emphasized the necessity of financial markets that support investment and long-term savings, noting that financial regulation must balance protection, investment, and innovation to maintain public trust. Additionally, he noted the role of business schools in preparing leaders for an economy increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence.
