Ashanti Region TESCON voting delayed at NPP congress

Voting at the Ashanti Region TESCON polling centre during the New Patriotic Party (NPP) national delegates congress was delayed on Saturday, October 3, 2026. The disruption occurred approximately five and a half hours into the election process when delegates struggled to locate their names on the Electoral Commission’s album.

Agitated delegates, fearing disenfranchisement, chanted “We are voting,” which prompted police to cordon off the area to restore order. The National Coordinator of TESCON denied reports that the regional album was missing, stating that the document had been at the venue since the morning.

The coordinator explained that the confusion stemmed from delegates visiting the wrong polling centres. The Ashanti Region has 50 TESCON institutions with representatives assigned to three specific polling locations, labelled A, B, and C. Once delegates located the correct centres, the issue was resolved and voting resumed.
