AshantiGold dismisses head coach Karim Zito

AshantiGold CEO Edward Kwasi Akuoko has announced the dismissal of head coach Karim Zito, along with assistant coach Ernest Okyere and goalkeeper trainer Robert Dabuo, effective immediately.

The decision follows an inconsistent start to the 2026-27 Ghana Premier League season, where the Obuasi-based club has recorded three wins, three defeats, and two draws in eight matches. This has left the newly promoted side in 10th or 11th place in the league standings.

Akuoko cited poor away form and reported tensions within the technical team as the primary reasons for the change. He stated that management expects consistent results and noted that reports of strained relationships among the backroom staff were a significant concern. An interim technical team will manage the club until a new head coach and technical director are appointed.
