ASHB Sorriso wins silver at Brazilian Youth Handball Championship

The ASHB Sorriso youth men's handball team secured the silver medal at the 2026 Brazilian Youth Club Championship held in Maceió, Alagoas. In the final match played on Sunday, August 23, the team from Mato Grosso lost to São Bernardo (SP) with a score of 34 to 30.

Sorriso's campaign included three victories in the initial phase against Fúria (PB), Jundiaí (SP), and CATO (AL). After advancing to the knockout stages, they defeated Pinheiros (SP) in a quarterfinal match decided after two extra time periods, followed by a semifinal victory against CAHAN (AL) to reach the final.

This runner-up finish marks the third time in the last four years that the team has reached the national championship final. The team previously won Brazilian titles in 2023 and 2024. CAHAN (AL) finished the competition in third place after defeating Furia/Arnaldo de Barros/BK Hand-PB 24 to 19.
