Ashbourne house fire leaves Quinn family homeless, fundraiser launched

A blaze on Monday night in Ashbourne, County Meath, completely destroyed the home of Conal and Evelyn Quinn, leaving the family without shelter or insurance cover. The fire caused no injuries, and the fire service was praised for its response. A framed Donegal GAA jersey, signed by the 2014 squad, was the only item that survived unscathed.

Local Independent County Councillor Joe Bonner set up a GoFundMe campaign with the family's permission to help them rebuild. Within hours the appeal raised over €11,000, with a target of €200,000 for urgent repairs, replacement of essential items and long‑term recovery.

The incident has drawn community support, highlighting the challenges faced by families without insurance after sudden disasters.
