Ashcroft Village Secures $4.8 Million Grant to Twin Reservoir

The Village of Ashcroft in British Columbia has been awarded a $4.8 million grant from the Build Communities Strong Fund (BCSF) Community stream, part of the federal Strategic Priorities Fund. The funding will be used to construct a second reservoir in North Ashcroft, known as the Pressure Zone 3 Reservoir Expansion and PRV Station, increasing water storage capacity and strengthening the reliability of the municipal water system. The project will also support a community‑wide water‑meter program aimed at long‑term water conservation.

The grant, announced on July 30, is one of 54 projects receiving a share of $152 million from the BCSF, which distributes $2.5 billion annually across Canada through the Union of BC Municipalities. Mayor Barbara Roden credited village staff, council, and provincial and federal representatives—MLA Lorne Doerkson and MP Frank Caputo—for their advocacy in securing the funding. The investment is intended to improve fire protection, accommodate future growth, and ensure safe, dependable water service for residents and businesses for generations.
