Ashford Castle named world’s most beautiful hotel

Ashford Castle, an 800-year-old historic estate in Ireland, has been named the world’s most beautiful hotel by Time Out. Located near Cong on the border of County Mayo and Galway, the property sits on a vast estate overlooking Lough Corrib.

With a history dating back to 1228, the castle has hosted notable figures including Oscar Wilde and members of the Guinness family. The property transitioned into a luxury resort in 1939 and has been operated by Red Carnation Hotels since 2013.

The hotel is recognized for blending medieval architecture with modern luxury and Irish craftsmanship. Notable features include crystal chandeliers from Donegal, Connemara marble, and expansive corridors that require staff to personally escort guests to their rooms. The estate offers amenities such as a private cinema, gardens, and a spa.
