Ashgabat schoolchildren celebrate World Migratory Bird Day

Students at Secondary School No. 55 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, marked World Migratory Bird Day through an educational intensive titled “Every Bird Counts—Your Observations Matter!”. The event was organized by the school’s environmental club, “Jesur’s Little Yard,” which focuses on ecology and climate issues.

Photojournalist and birdwatcher Ahmet Tangrykuliev attended the event to share personal observations and experiences with the approximately 50 participating students. The celebration highlighted the importance of local wildlife, including species like the oriole, which has seen shifts in presence within the Kopetdag range as urban areas develop.
