Former England all‑rounder Moeen Ali said that Indian coach Ashish Nehra possesses the best cricketing brain in the world, surpassing even former captain MS Dhoni. Ali highlighted Nehra’s ability to read any match situation, back decisions with data and experience, and manage team dynamics.

Nehra, who served as Royal Challengers Bangalore’s bowling coach in the 2018‑19 IPL seasons, was appointed head coach of the Gujarat Titans in 2022. In his first season he guided the franchise to the IPL title, becoming the first Indian head coach to win the tournament.
