Ashok Gehlot criticizes BJP and urges Rajasthan drought relief

Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has criticized the BJP for accusing the opposition of attempting to destabilize the country when questioning the Election Commission. Gehlot alleged that the BJP is acting as a lawyer for the Commission rather than addressing legitimate concerns and claimed the central government has used restrictive measures in New Delhi to prevent opposition protests.

Gehlot also raised alarms regarding a severe drought in western Rajasthan. He urged the current state government to immediately declare drought-hit areas and initiate relief work, specifically for livestock. He noted reports of cattle suffering from hunger and thirst in areas like Barmer and Jaisalmer, criticizing the administration for delays in opening fodder depots.

Meanwhile, internal friction continues within the Rajasthan Congress. Senior leader Vishvendra Singh has publicly attacked the party leadership, stating that ‘sycophancy is not in my blood’ following a show-cause notice issued to him by the party’s disciplinary committee.
