Ashok Gehlot criticizes Rajasthan government over crime and corruption

Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has leveled several allegations against the current BJP administration, focusing on rising crime rates and a high-level administrative scandal.

Regarding public safety, Gehlot stated that the law and order situation in Jaipur is in shambles. He cited specific incidents, including a burglary at the home of former minister Pratap Singh Singhavi in the secure Civil Lines area, a 5 crore rupee theft from a watch showroom, and an attack on jewelers in Jamdoliba. Gehlot argued that the government should prioritize security over advertising expenditures.

Additionally, Gehlot has called for investigations by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) into a controversy involving Additional Chief Secretary Shikhar Agarwal. Gehlot alleged that the scandal, which reportedly involves the acquisition of 40 villas, suggests irregularities within the Chief Minister’s Office. He questioned the transparency of decisions made during Agarwal’s tenure and demanded accountability from Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.
