Ashok Leyland and IIT Madras launch electric truck awareness drive

Ashok Leyland, in partnership with the Centre of Excellence for Zero Emission Trucking (CoEZET) at IIT Madras, has launched the ‘GET ZET – Electric Truck Awareness to Acceptance’ initiative. Starting from Chennai, the nationwide program will span 40 cities between September 2026 and February 2027.

The drive aims to accelerate the adoption of zero-emission freight transportation by building confidence among stakeholders, including fleet owners, logistics operators, financiers, and policymakers. The initiative will target key logistics hubs and industrial corridors across numerous Indian states, including Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi, among others.

As part of the program, participants will have the opportunity to interact with Ashok Leyland’s electric mobility solutions, specifically the BOSS Electric truck and its associated charging infrastructure. Shenu Agarwal, MD & CEO of Ashok Leyland, stated that the transition to zero-emission mobility depends on user confidence and that the initiative seeks to make electric mobility more accessible and practical for those who will use it.
