Ashraf Dabbour arrested in Lebanon for extradition to Palestinian Authority

Lebanese authorities arrested former Palestinian ambassador Ashraf Dabbour on Monday, preparing his extradition to the Palestinian Authority on corruption and embezzlement charges. The public prosecutor issued an arrest warrant after questioning Dabbour and transferred the case file to the government to inform the Palestinian Authority of his detention.

Dabbour, who served as ambassador to Beirut from 2012 to 2025, had previously been detained at Beirut’s airport in April at the request of the Palestinian Authority and placed under a travel ban. He has denied the accusations, saying they aim to tarnish his reputation, and accused Yasser Abbas, son of President Mahmoud Abbas, of exploiting security services to pursue personal scores against him.
