Ashraful Haque Don denied bail in Salman Shah murder case

A Dhaka court has denied bail to Ashraful Haque Don, who is in custody regarding the murder case of popular film actor Salman Shah. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Monjurul Islam issued the order following a petition by Don’s legal counsel.

Defense lawyers argued for bail on the grounds that Don is the sole provider for his family and is in poor health. They further contended that various medical and chemical examination reports suggest Salman Shah died by suicide.

However, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) opposed the bail, stating that Don withheld critical information during interrogation. Investigators alleged that Don, a close friend of the deceased, was evasive and strategic when questioned about the circumstances surrounding the death. The CID maintains that his conduct and movements around the time of the incident indicate potential involvement, and continued detention is necessary for the investigation.
