Ashton Jeanty trends toward Week 1 return for Las Vegas Raiders

Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty is trending toward playing in the Week 1 matchup against the Miami Dolphins following an injury scare. After being helped off the practice field during the preseason, it was determined that Jeanty suffered a sprained ankle rather than a season-ending injury.

Raiders coach Klint Kubiak confirmed that Jeanty will practice this week, though he declined to commit to a specific workload or guarantee his availability for Sunday. The team's first depth chart for the season opener lists Jeanty as the RB1, providing a significant hint regarding his status.

If Jeanty is unable to carry a full load, rookie Mike Washington Jr. is expected to play a larger role. Washington Jr. has received praise from former Raiders running back Raheem Mostert for his performance during training camp.
