Ashwini Vaishnaw celebrates World Vada Pav Day
Indian Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared a special social media post to celebrate World Vada Pav Day, highlighting Mumbai’s most popular street food. The post featured the iconic snack set against the backdrop of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), symbolizing the city’s daily life and cultural identity.
Vada Pav, once known as the ‘burger for the poor,’ originated in 1966 in Dadar by Ashok Vaidya as an affordable meal for mill workers. It has since evolved into a massive commercial industry and a global symbol of Mumbai’s lifestyle.
