Asia-Pacific aircraft demand to exceed 19,000 units over 20 years

The Asia-Pacific region is projected to require more than 19,000 new passenger aircraft over the next 20 years. This demand accounts for approximately 45% of the total global requirement of 42,060 new aircraft during this period.

Driven by a compound annual growth rate in passenger traffic of 5.1%—surpassing the global average of 3.9%—the region's aviation needs are fueled by rapid urbanization and economic development. By 2045, the number of middle-income earners in Asia-Pacific is expected to reach 3 billion.

Demand is split between replacing existing fleets and supporting growth. The region is expected to lead in wide-body aircraft deliveries, requiring 3,420 new units. Airbus is positioned to meet this demand through its A330neo and A350 product lines, having increased its wide-body order book market share in the region to 50% over the last three years.
