Asia-Pacific ICT and fiber broadband markets projected to grow through 2031

The Asia-Pacific (APAC) region is seeing significant growth in telecommunications and information and communications technology (ICT) investment. Fixed communications service revenue in APAC is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 2.2% from 2026 to 2031, driven primarily by fiber broadband adoption.

In emerging markets such as the Philippines, Malaysia, and India, government-led infrastructure initiatives are fueling this expansion. In developed markets like Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore, high penetration levels are supported by national broadband network initiatives. By 2031, fiber-optic access lines are expected to account for approximately 86% of total fixed access lines in developed APAC regions and 88% in emerging markets.

Separately, ICT spending in the APAC region (excluding China and Japan) is forecasted to reach $647 billion in 2026, representing a 5.4% increase. This growth is attributed to a transition from experimental AI pilots to large-scale execution. Key drivers include investments in software for data sovereignty and security, as well as hardware demand resulting from manufacturing shifts to countries like India, Vietnam, and Thailand.
