Asia-Pacific mobile cyberattacks surge despite high consumer awareness

A Kaspersky B2C Pulse Survey reveals that consumers in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region are outpacing global averages in digital adoption. Rates for online shopping, digital finance, and digital entertainment are all higher in APAC than the global mean. While the region shows higher-than-average awareness of cybercrime, mobile attacks are surging.

Thailand recorded the highest cybercrime awareness in the region at 39%, followed by Malaysia, Indonesia, China, India, and Vietnam. Despite this awareness, Thailand also experienced a 127% surge in mobile attacks. Other significant increases in mobile threats were noted in Taiwan (373%) and Sri Lanka (132%).

With the APAC mobile subscriber base expected to reach 2.11 billion by 2030, experts emphasize the need for security to evolve alongside device adoption. Kaspersky recommends integrating security controls directly into mobile applications to protect sensitive transactions and personal data.
