Asia-Pacific real estate investment rises amid hotel boom and India office demand
Commercial real estate in the Asia-Pacific region showed significant activity in 2026. According to Knight Frank, regional commercial investment reached US$53.5 billion in the second quarter, representing a 31.1% year-on-year increase. The hotel sector led this growth, with investment rising 55.2% year-on-year to US$5.4 billion, driven by a sustained recovery in tourism.
In the office sector, Colliers reported that leasing across 11 key Asia-Pacific markets grew by 3% year-on-year in the first half of 2026, totaling 4.6 million square meters. India emerged as the primary driver of this demand, accounting for over 70% of the region's total office leasing.
While demand remained resilient, new office supply saw a 37% year-on-year contraction, falling to 3 million square meters. Most new completions were concentrated in India and Mainland China, which together represented more than 80% of the regional supply.
