Asiad 20 concludes in Japan with handover to Doha

The 20th Asian Games (Asiad 20) concluded in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, with a closing ceremony centered on the theme ‘One Asia’ to promote unity and friendship among Asian nations. The event featured high-profile attendees, including Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko of Japan.

The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) recognized the tournament's top performers, naming China's Yu Zidi as the ‘Best Female Athlete’ following her three gold medals and multiple records in swimming. Thailand's Puripol Boonson was named ‘Best Male Athlete’ after securing two gold medals in sprinting.

The ceremony included a formal handover to Doha, Qatar, which is set to host Asiad 21. The closing proceedings featured cultural performances, including appearances by J-pop group MYERA, and concluded with the extinguishing of the games' flame.
