India clinches multiple medals at Asian U‑19 and U‑23 Boxing Championships in Jakarta
Indian boxers performed strongly at the Asian Under‑19 and Under‑23 Boxing Championships in Jakarta (July 5‑16, 2026). In the U‑23 men’s division six Indian pugilists reached the semifinals, securing medals in the 50 kg (Vishwanath), 55 kg (Ganga), 65 kg (Vanshaj), 70 kg (Hitesh), 75 kg (Neeraj) and +90 kg (Ishaan Kataria) categories. In the U‑19 men’s class another six Indian fighters – Aditya (55 kg), Sikandar (60 kg), Mausam Suhag (65 kg), Devendra Chaudhary (75 kg), Sagar (85 kg) and Shubham Rajput (90 kg) – also reached the semifinals, guaranteeing medals. The Indian women’s U‑19 squad assured eight medals, with wins by Chandrika Bhoresh (51 kg), Joyshree Devi (54 kg), Prachi (57 kg), Chahat (60 kg), Gunjan (48 kg) and Anshika (75 kg) among others.
Indonesia fielded 19 athletes (10 in U‑19, nine in U‑23) aiming for semifinals, with six male boxers competing in quarter‑final bouts across weight classes from 55 kg to 90 kg. The tournament featured over 400 boxers from 26 Asian nations, providing crucial international experience for young competitors.
