BCCI raises concerns over 2026 Asian Games cricket facilities in Japan

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) have raised serious concerns regarding the facilities for the 2026 Asian Games cricket tournament in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. Major issues reported include the use of tents for player dressing rooms, washrooms located approximately 500 meters from the players, and inadequate hotel accommodations.

The cricket matches are slated for the Korogi Athletic Park in Nisshin City, a venue recently converted from a baseball field. Concerns have also been raised regarding the quality of the untested hybrid pitch.

In response to these infrastructure challenges, the BCCI plans to send an observer to Japan to conduct a thorough assessment. While initial reports suggested India might consider fielding a second-string ‘B’ team if standards are not met, some sources indicate that the originally selected full-strength squad, led by captain Shreyas Iyer, remains the primary plan. Other major cricketing nations, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan, have also voiced dissatisfaction with the proposed accommodation and venue arrangements.
