Asian Games 2026 preparations intensify in UAE and Hong Kong
Preparations are underway for the 20th Asian Games, scheduled to take place in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4, 2026.
The UAE Olympic Committee recently held a coordination meeting in Dubai with various sports federations to review administrative, technical, and organizational arrangements for its national teams. Discussions included athlete accommodation, transport schedules, and medical services to ensure delegation readiness for the event, which will feature 43 sports and 71 disciplines.
In Hong Kong, the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee announced that the delegation will consist of over 800 members, including approximately 580 athletes competing in 38 sports. The upcoming Games will see several sports making their debut, including freestyle BMX, mixed martial arts, padel, surfing, teqball, and virtual taekwondo. Unlike previous editions, the 2026 Games will not utilize a dedicated Athletes Village, with some guests expected to be hosted on a cruise ship.
