Asian Games 2026 success marked by records and revenue growth

Hussein Al-Musallam, Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia, stated that the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games have strengthened the impact of sports in Asia while promoting peace, solidarity, and unity.

During a press conference in Nagoya, Japan, Al-Musallam highlighted the significant athletic achievements of the games, noting the establishment of 54 world records, 11 junior world records, 89 Asian records, and 212 Japanese records. He attributed these successes to the high-quality environment provided by the organizing committee, local officials, and volunteers.

Beyond athletic performance, the games saw economic growth, with the Olympic Council of Asia reporting a 19% increase in marketing and sponsorship revenue compared to the 2023 Hangzhou Games. This growth reflects increased confidence from sponsors, broadcasting partners, and digital platforms. Additionally, 40 out of 45 participating National Olympic Committees successfully earned medals during the event.
