Asian Games: Chinese Taipei basketball advances while soft tennis falls in quarterfinals

At the Asian Games, Chinese Taipei athletes achieved mixed results in soft tennis and women's basketball.

In soft tennis, Jiang Min-yu reached the quarterfinals in the women's singles competition. Despite a strong comeback in the second and third sets, Jiang lost 2-4 to Japan's Kaho Miyamae. Jiang cited an inflamed foot injury and difficulty adjusting to the indoor court conditions as factors in her defeat.

In women's basketball, the Chinese Taipei team secured a spot in the semifinals after defeating the Philippines with a score of 83-71. Xiao Yu-wen led the performance with 14 points and 17 rebounds. The team will next face the winner of the matchup between Japan and Thailand.
