South Korean national teams prepare for 2026 Asian Games

South Korean national teams are intensifying preparations for the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games across various disciplines. The baseball team, led by a roster of U-25 players and select wildcards, aims to defend its title, while the football team seeks to reclaim dominance following recent setbacks.

In volleyball, the men's national team secured third place at the Asian Championship after defeating Australia, earning a direct ticket to the 2027 FIVB Men's Volleyball World Championship. Meanwhile, the women's team has departed for Japan to begin their campaign, targeting a gold medal to end a drought dating back to 2014.

In eSports, the Battlegrounds Mobile national team finished fifth in a recent evaluation tournament involving teams from China and Chinese Taipei. Additionally, the U-18 baseball team has advanced to the finals of the Asian Youth Baseball Championship after a dominant five-game winning streak, seeking their first title in eight years.

North Korea has also arrived in Japan with a delegation of approximately 180 athletes, preparing to compete in several sports including women's football, where a match against South Korea is scheduled.
