Asian Games: Thailand volleyball advances while Japan football faces low attendance
At the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, the Thailand women's volleyball team has advanced to the quarterfinals after finishing top of Pool C. The team secured three straight 3-0 victories against Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, and Chinese Taipei. They are scheduled to face Indonesia on September 20.
In women's football, the Japanese national team secured an 8-0 victory against Vietnam at Shizuoka's Ecopa Stadium. Despite the dominant performance, which followed an 8-0 win against Thailand, media reports have highlighted low spectator turnout. South Korean outlet Xports News noted that attendance dropped from 1,202 to 1,029 between the two matches, describing the commercial aspect of the event as a failure despite the team's high scoring.
