Asian One Air plane skids off runway in Intan Jaya, Papua

An Asian One Air Cessna 208B, registration PK-LTF, skidded off the runway during landing at Bilorai Airport in the Sugapa District of Intan Jaya, Central Papua, on Saturday morning. The aircraft was operating a pioneer flight from Timika to Sugapa when the incident occurred.

Reports indicate that as the plane touched the runway, a tire reportedly detached, causing the pilot to veer left. The aircraft exited the runway and came to a stop in a grassy/swampy area. While all ten people on board—eight passengers and two crew members—survived, two Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) members sustained injuries. The aircraft sustained damage to its main landing gear.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation is coordinating with local authorities and AirNav Indonesia to investigate the technical cause of the accident. As a precaution, some flights scheduled for Sugapa have been diverted back to Timika.
