Asiana Airlines to operate 73 special mileage flights ahead of Korean Air merger

Asiana Airlines has announced the operation of 73 special mileage-only flights across popular routes in Japan, China, and Southeast Asia to provide customers with increased opportunities to use their accumulated miles. The special flights will serve Tokyo, Osaka, Beijing, Hanoi, and Manila between November and December.

This initiative comes as Asiana Airlines prepares for its official merger with Korean Air, scheduled for December 17. Following the merger, Asiana Airlines will be absorbed by Korean Air, which will inherit its aircraft, routes, personnel, and assets. To protect consumers, the Fair Trade Commission has approved a mileage integration plan where Asiana miles can be used separately for 10 years within the integrated Korean Air system. Customers may also convert Asiana miles to Korean Air SkyPass miles at a 1:1 ratio for flight-earned miles, while partner-earned miles will convert at a 0.82:1 ratio.

The merger will create a massive carrier with approximately 230 aircraft and an annual revenue exceeding 23 trillion won.
