ASIC to recruit new security and data chiefs following resignations

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) is seeking to fill three major technology leadership positions following the resignations of its security and data chiefs. Both Jamie Norton, the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), and Graham Jefferson, the senior executive leader for data, analytics, and AI, are scheduled to depart in mid-December.

ASIC has initiated formal recruitment for permanent replacements. The agency is renaming Jefferson’s former position to Chief Data and Analytics Officer (CDAO). Additionally, a new contract Chief Technology Officer (CTO) role has been established to report to Paul Franklin. This new role will oversee technology and security deliverables for the RegistryConnect program, which aims to stabilize and upgrade business registers through the 2027-28 financial year.

The incoming CISO will join the agency during the third year of a four-year cybersecurity transformation program.
