Asiimwe Christian arrested for alleged fraudulent labour recruitment

Asiimwe Christian, also known as Don Chris, a former director of the defunct labour recruitment company Sky Pins, has been arrested over allegations of fraudulent labour recruitment and obtaining money by false pretences.

Police report that between 2022 and 2025, the suspect allegedly secured funds from numerous individuals by falsely promising employment opportunities in Canada, the United Kingdom, Qatar, and Dubai. The promised roles included positions such as caregivers, cleaners, and waiters.

More than 500 alleged victims have provided statements to authorities. Victims reported paying between UGX 5 million and UGX 10 million each, depending on the specific job type and destination. The suspect was apprehended in the early hours of August 27, 2026, at a bar in Zana, Makindye-Ssabagabo Municipality, Wakiso District. He remains in police custody pending further investigation and court proceedings.
