Asikam man attacked with machete over fake gold

A 25-year-old man, Ibrahim Hayford, is in critical condition following a violent machete attack in Asikam, located near Subriso in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

According to his sister, Abrafi, the incident occurred after Hayford accompanied a cousin to sell gold. The gold was discovered to be fake by the buyer. While the cousin fled the scene, Hayford was allegedly detained by the buyers, tied, and beaten with a machete.

A video depicting the assault has circulated online, showing the victim being beaten and wounded. The matter has been reported to the police in Tepa, though no arrests have been made at this time.
